Children's day part 1

Today was Children's day, it happens on the second week of January every year in Krabi. It is a day/ couple days of celebrating being young.

Children get to play games, receive gifts and dress up. All the families get involved and everything generally gets a little bit chaotic.

One thing I noticed mainly is the outfits of the children, it all gets a bit 'my gypsie wedding' with loads of make up, crazy dresses, hair extensions and false eye lashes. Make up isn't just reserved for the girls, lots of the boys put on lipstick, mascara and blusher, no wonder Thailand is renowned for lady boys!!

The British side of me cringed at the fact the kids were powdering their faces to lighten the skin and covering their naturally beautiful looks with massive eyelashes, but the camp loving, Girly side just loved all the glitzy, over glamorous outfits!!!

The kids were so happy and excitable, and it was so cute seeing my class up on stage doing their dance, which they have been practising for weeks! Felt like a proud mummy haha!!

We have round two of children's day tomorrow which projects abroad have put on. I'm in charge of musical chairs with my Aussie friend Melissa, I think it's cos of our amazing dance skills...
