Jungle VIP!

This week it is Johannas last week, she leaves Friday so I thought I would take a mini holiday for a couple days. The original plan was to disappear to Chang Mai for the week but it was to expensive. Instead we headed to Kow Sok National Park.

Kow Sok is around 3 hours drive from Krabi and set right in the rain forest. Absolutely gorgeous setting but unless you are into walking, scenery and the outdoors don't go lol. Luckily I like two of the three so it was all good.

We stayed in an apartment just in the local village which was really cute, not much there except tourist offices and bars but so relaxing! As you will see in the photos we stayed in a sort of tree house which was so cute and oh so cheap!!

The hotel was called The Jungle Huts and owned by two German dudes who were really nice. Their Thai wives seem to run the place with the help of there very random and unnecessarily naked brothers... Yeah don't be surprised if you see a couple fat Thai men wandering around in their towel having a scratch now and again... Niiiice!!

As most of you know, I don't walk anywhere!! And majority of the trips into the rain forest involved a 4-5 hour trek...pah! I politely said no and decided on the canoe trip on the Kow Sok river which took you through the heart of the jungle.

The trip was perfect, everything was so pretty and we got to sees number of different wildlife including snakes, lizards, birds, frogs, butterflies and massive spiders.

The best bit of the trip was our coffee break! We got out the canoe and sat on the river bank. Our guide cut down some banana leaves to sit on (what's gent!) and started building a mini fire! He heated his iron kettle over the top and made us a coffee in bamboo cups, which we asked to keep.

Oh! I forgot to say!! Before we got to the canoes we stopped off to see some monkeys! We fed them bananas and did a lot of 'awwww'in' at the babies!

Had such nice weekend, met some awesome (slightly odd) people, it was very cheap seeing as we were there for two nights and generally had the perfect couple days relaxation before I lose my lovely Johanna to her German world :(.

I would def recommend Kow Sok as it just shows another beautiful side to Thailand, other than the beaches, people and culture :)
