Eating out Thai style

The past couple days I have been feeling a bit shit, not slept well, started worrying about money and was getting a little wobbly on the home sickness. Now though, after a serious pep talk in my head I feel fine again!

I knew I needed something to get me out of my grumpy mood so I suggest to Diane that we ask papa, mama and the rest of the family out for food before she buggers off and leaves me to her Canadian world. Neither of us thought they would go for it or understand what I was asking them. However with a little (a lot) of help from mr google translate and a lot of needy, smileyness they accepted.

Even though it was my idea, I had no idea where we were going. I knew it was at 6 and something to do with a buffet.

So we got in the car and drove until we reached a outdoor restaurant with no name (all the best Thai food is served in places with no names). The restaurant had cute fairy lights in the trees, hut style tables for the romantic couples and best of all no tourists! Yes I am aware that I'm a tourists, but some of my best experiences have been those of a full Thai nature, makes me feel like I'm in real Thailand.

As mama said, it was buffet style so we all went up to get our food, mama was in charge of meat, her sister drinks and their daughter in charge of me (didn't have a clue what anything was).

The meat didn't come cooked, we cooked pork and fresh fish of all types on the little BBQ style stands in our table and ate... A lot. The pictures don't do it justice but the food was amazing! Like a Thai style BBQ with the addition of soups, Thai sauces and salad... I've missed salad!

Had a really lovely night surrounded by a family that has really taken care of me over the past couple weeks, plus the addition of papas brother who showed up on the table next to us.

Me and Diane paid to say thank you for their hospitality and the bill for 7 people including numerous rounds of drinks and pudding came to a massive 900baht (£19)

Definitely want to go back when it comes to my last couple days with the family, has to be one of my fave nights so far :)
