Then there was 3...
This week has been a very teary week as I have lost 2 of my fave volunteers. Diane has gone home to her sons and grand daughter leaving me on my own in the house and Ann-So has gone travelling in Australia... Selfish!!!
This leaves only me and Cabio from the original group and nana, the not so new but newer than us recruit... *sigh*
Just a little bit about them to keep you in the loop. Diane was the first volunteer I met in Thailand, she was my room mate and 2nd Thai mother (first being my house mama, third being Pija) she is French Canadian, likes to walk (a lot), self confessed technophobe and v sarcastic. Anne-Sophie is our blonde party girl from Denmark, She loves tanning, buckets, boys, us and dancing.
Diane's last day at school was a manic one for me, had run between being photographer for Diane and various students and teachers to being in charge of goodbye cards from the kids to the usual referee, nurse and cleaning lady for the kids usual antics. It went well though and I could tell Diane enjoyed every minute, even if her enjoyment was through tears.
On their last afternoon in Krabi we went to the 'secret place' with Anne-So so she could indulge in their delicious ways for the last time, then headed off for shopping followed by a big group meal on the roof top.
The skies replicated our dark moods but the food filled our bellies perfectly. Absolutely love the baan andaman, such a beautiful view from the roof top and the food (although delivered in Thai time) is delicious!!!
It feels like the start of the end of our placements seeing as we all only have 2 weeks left before the schools break up and the care centres close for a couple months. I got so emotional as Diane hugged the kids goodbye, so dreading what kind of mess I'll be in when it's my turn!!
